Tony Bruce, Jr. Bags ASCS Win in Devil’s Bowl Summer Nationals Opener!

Lonnie Wheatley, MESQUITE, Texas (June 17, 2011) – Tony Bruce, Jr., put his 2011 on-track struggles behind him by racing to victory lane in Friday night’s Devil’s Bowl Speedway Summer Nationals pitting The Oil Medics ASCS Lone Star Region versus the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region.

The Liberal, KS, native chased down early leader Danny Jennings by the tenth round and went on to collect his 11th career overall ASCS feature win aboard the Bruce Racing No. 18 entry.

Starting ninth, Bruce, Jr., needed just three laps to charge into second before ultimately taking the lead away from Jennings. Bruce, Jr., then held off Brady Bacon the rest of the way to secure the win.

Bruce, Jr., and Bacon were chased to the stripe by Jennings, with Michael Lang and 21st-starter Kevin Ramey rounding out the top five. Dustin Morgan raced from 18th to sixth, with current ASCS Sooner points leader Joe Wood, Jr., Justin Melton, Martin Edwards and 23rd-starter Andy Shouse completing the top ten.

Bacon, Colt Treharn and Michelle Decker claimed heat race wins, with Joshua Hodges winning the “B” Main.
