Renegades of Dirt Modified Tour Canceled For 2020 Due To Covid-19 Uncertainties!

(Middlebourne, WV) Race teams and fans, due to on-going decisions and regulations among government officials we are left with no choice but to draw our 2020 Renegades of Dirt Modified Tour season to a close prior to receiving the first green flag. Sadly, we see no chance for the type of success we work very hard to produce and that our racers have come to expect.

Decisions being made daily by local officials and state governors gravely hinder the chance for large gatherings, out of state travel, participant restrictions and more. Subsequently hindering our chances to proceed with the level of events and season that we had hoped for in 2020.

Although, it is a very positive sign to see select states beginning to open up to limited motorsports activity, it doesn't come without more mandated restrictions that provide little to no pathway of success for a traveling series such as the Renegades that lacks major commercial brand sponsors.

For instance, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia and North Carolina all of which on the current schedule still require hefty restrictions when even possible for speedway operations to resume. Therefore, it is nearly unfeasible for the series to plan accordingly to each state or event on its schedule in a manner that would allow points and pre-planned pay structures.

Additionally, it is impossible to predict at which point the series will be able to return to full normal activity that would allow event promoters any likelihood of success. The possibility is all to real that there will be no true “normal” in 2020 and no real opportunity for the series to thrive in the current economical/racing environment.

Any decisions the series makes to try and race would be met with certain restrictions and a list of problems. Thus, would be selfish in nature and may not be in the best interest of teams and track promoters. We feel in their best interest to not put their facility in a position that would cause them financial difficulty or racers increasingly large pit/entry fees. Doing so, we hope that it will allow us the opportunity to come back stronger than ever in 2021.

Furthermore, for series officials our 2020 point fund and additional bonuses could jeopardize the future of the series which currently stands very strong. With the state of the current economy very few sponsors have signed on for this season which foster possible hardships for all. For sponsors that have we commend them and we will honor their sponsorship in full for the 2021 season also. Any drivers that have paid advanced memberships will be refunded in full withing the next few weeks.

During these uncertain times its not fair to ask track promoters, race teams, fans or the series to continue to operate series activity under the current government regulated restrictions and guidelines. Consequently, the series has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 season. These decisions have been made with much thought, stress and difficulty, trust me.

Any area promoters of the tour that still plan to do any type of modified event in 2020 of size we will continue to put our best efforts in helping promote it to our fan base via social media as our thank you for your support and our gratitude in these difficult times. Anything we can do to help we will try to accommodate accordingly.

It is our sincere hope everyone stays safe while coming through 2020 strong and healthy during the rough times our nation is facing. We know all to well the difficulty promoters our having and we are praying for not only survival but prosperity in the days, weeks and months ahead. We look forward to taking the time off to build bigger and better than ever for our large return in 2021. We miss you all very much and hope to see you around our local tracks when social distancing/racing allows.

Thank you, Series Director, Cody Watson.
