American Ethanol Late Model Tour

In May of 2014, Richard Childress Racing (RCR) hosted the first ever dirt track experience for the Growth Energy Board of Directors at “The Dirt Track at Charlotte,” adjacent to the Charlotte Motor Speedway in Charlotte, NC.

Growth Energy is the largest Ethanol advocacy group in the world. It is the driving force behind the American Ethanol NASCAR partnership and the RCR contract, which features Austin Dillon as the driver of the #3 American Ethanol car.

Mitch Miller, Carbon Green BioEnergy CEO and Growth Energy Board Member, attended the dirt track event in Charlotte. After an exhilarating day at the track and in the cars, Mitch began to formulate a plan. In his words:

“During that day, we were reminded that dirt track racing is where it all began and that there was great opportunity to educate the public, race teams, and mechanics about the many benefits Ethanol has to offer.”

The other Growth Energy Board Members were enthusiastic about the idea and Mitch quickly articulated the need:

“We need to take American Ethanol to the dirt tracks. There is huge opportunity with the racers and mechanics that pit for them. They can be our grassroots advocates.”

And the American Ethanol Late Model Tour was born.
