Inside Line Promotions – INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (July 26, 2021) – Mandy Chick is shifting focus for the rest of the summer.

Chick plans on tackling a trio of Central States Midget Series races on dirt in August while her asphalt team prepares for the final three JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour presented by Chevrolet Performance events this fall.

“We have two race cars we are fixing so we’re going to take some time off and put our best foot forward for the final three races,” she said. “It will take us out of the points chase, but we want to be prepared for the big events that wrap up the asphalt season.”

The decision came after a tough outing on July 17 at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway in Nashville, Tenn., during the Masters of the Pros 150. Chick was involved in an early race-ending crash.

“Nashville didn’t go well for us, but my team worked hard,” she said. “I appreciate all of the dedication of our marketing partners, my family and our racing team. We’ll be back stronger than ever.”

Chick enjoyed her first dirt midget start in approximately four years last Friday when she made her debut at KC Raceway during a Central States Midget Series event.

“It was a fun weekend with a last-minute decision to head to the track and have some fun,” she said. “We loaded our truck bed with some tools and loaded the car onto an open trailer.”

Chick advanced from fifth to fourth place in a heat race. That lined her up on the inside of the fourth row for the main event.

“We made it up to about fourth by Lap 3,” she said. “Then we got caught up in a caution and flipped. The car was fine so we kept racing. A little later on we broke a brake line so we weren’t able to finish. It was a blast and I learned a ton.”

Chick finished eighth and enjoyed the night so much that she decided to add three more races to her summer schedule. She will visit Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan., on Aug. 6 and Aug. 20 before returning to KC Raceway on Aug. 21.

“It will allow me to get more dirt experience and support my local fan base,” she said. “We have a lot of local fans in the Kansas City area so that will be exciting to see and connect with the home fans.

“The midgets are a lot of power. You have to have really good car control. I think that will help me handle the late model. In a dirt midget you’re sideways and you have to adapt to that nature. I think it will help me have better car control when we return to our late model.”
