Brandon Sheppard salvages a pair of Top-10 finishes in No. 81

On Friday evening, Brandon Sheppard trekked to Ponderosa Speedway (Junction City, Ken.) to make his first start of the season aboard the Riggs Motorsports No. 81 Late Model for the Valvoline Iron-Man Southern Series sanctioned program. Drawing 27 cars for the Bobby Carrier Sr. Tribute, Sheppard was challenging for the win in his heat when contact with another competitor cut down his right-rear tire and dropped him to the pit area. With a second-place finish in his B-Main placing him on the ninth row for the feature, Brandon passed 11 cars in the 40-lap to finish seventh.

The following night at Florence Speedway (Union, Ky.) for the Spring 50, Brandon laid down the third-fastest time in his group before placing second in his heat. With $10,000 on the line in the feature, Sheppard faded four spots in the 50-lapper to register a ninth-place finish.
