Pleasanton, TX.,(April 14th, 2023) No that that Fireball.

Tonight was the debut of a new class called Fireballs, let's hope they don't end that way. This new class is sort of a hybrid Street Stock/Hobby Stock made to give some of the old leaf spring cars just sitting a chance to get back on track again. Small block V-8, 4412 carb, shock claim rule, 3000 pounds, track approved 9” tires on 8” wheels and the great equalizer, 6600rpm chip.

Hopefully this will bring some of the nostalgic leaf spring cars, like Camaros, Novas, Mustangs, out of the weeds. Many of these cars, sadly, got phased out with the Factory Stock craze over the past years.

Mother Nature sweeps the big classes

So ok, we need the rain, but not in the middle of a race night. The Go-Karts were only ones to get their features in while a unique cloud formation appeared and slowly moved south towards the track as intermission wound down.

Just as features for the regular classes were about to begin lightning could be observed closer to the track and officials called for everyone to move from the stands. A little rain with huge drops at first, then the bottom fell out with rain, sideways at times, pounding the track.

Now I'm no meteorologist but pink colored clouds are not a good sign, and fortunately the hail reported nearby didn't come over the track, but the pits were, the pits. Easy to understand why at times tracks say they're rained out due to pit conditions.

Track officials will be making an announcement during the week as to make-up features, etc. Follow the updates on the I-37 Speedway page or forums.
