After no point champions were determined in 2020 Michael’s Mercer raceway has 2 weeks left to crown 4 2021 track titlists. With some going down to the wire on the final night.
In the big block modifieds Eric Gabany who has won 15 times in the limited modifieds picked up his 1st career big block feature this season holds a 28 point lead over JR McGinley, who has also won his 1st career big block feature. Chris Haines and Scott Kay are still mathematically in the hunt for the title however it looks like the 2 former small block drivers will battle it out for the championship.
In the Racesaver 305 sprints it has been an interesting year as Logan McCandless in his first full year in a 305 sprint has amassed 5 wins and should have a lock on the title but 2nd year driver Tommy Jasen after winning his first ever feature this year and with consistency is only 18 points out of 1st. Veteran Steve Cousins who is still looking for his first Mercer Checkered is only 24 points back and another 2nd year driver Jarrett Rosencrance is having a great year 34 points behind.
The FASTRAK modifieds is in a dogfight as 2019 champion Brian Schaffer with 2 wins is only 22 points ahead of veteran Billy Adams who won his first feature since 2006 this year. Don Cornelius and Michael Kristyak are still mathematically alive as long as they have good finishes in the next 2 weeks.
The mini stock race is a barn burner between leader Andy Thompson, who has 3 wins, Willie Aley with consistency is 2nd and Carl Ealy, with 4 wins running 3rd. Carl Ealy has been the big winner this season but missed one week which may hurt his chances for his first title. Thompson is ahead by 52 over Aley and Ealy is 66 points out of 1st. The division has been very competitive this season with a lot of exciting moments and finishes so anything can happen within the next two weeks as to who will come out on top.
Racing will begin at 7 pm with pits opening at 4 pm and grandstands at 5 pm.
