What do you do for a living?
Crane Services Manager (Sling Choker)

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your family?
I'm a single father of one very beautiful, very bright 20 yr old law student, Sarah Babic. Everyone that knows me knows her.

I was born and raised here in the Soo watching my heroes at Northern Speedway Fifth Line, number one hero being my dad Rod Sr., the other was cousin Donnie Varcoe. I ended up following Donnie all over Michigan and further to every race track that we could. I started racing myself in 1995, an old red Firebird #79 for Brett Jackson. Brett and I were at Onaway and Almira every weekend that summer and I proved to myself and all who cared that I wasn't too bad at going fast and turning left.

Hobbies or interests?
Spending time at any lake, racing, and home improvements.

What was the biggest challenge in 2019 at Laird and how do you think you change that going to 2020?
2019 was my first time back in a car, been away for a few yrs. I last raced Super Late Models but made a decision to move into the Modified class because the car counts were usually higher and because of big-race opportunities like the hot shoe. It took some getting used to last season driving this modified but I feel like the bugs are worked out and we should be able to start this season full throttle.

Who is a clean driver you really enjoy racing with?
So many to list. Most drivers I have encountered and raced with are courteous but competitive, aggressive but leave room to race and that I will always respect. Sometimes we encounter those who take this racing way to seriously and will block you, move you, possibly wreck you if it will help them progress another position. Those drivers make it difficult for all of us.

Sponsors?
Sling Choker and Stackburger.
