Since a youngster Sam has always enjoyed going fast. Racing started for him in 2003 in Dirt Kart Ranks. He progressed through different classes and stood on State Title Podiums in both Australian Independent Dirt Kart and Speedway Kart Associations. In 2007 his dream of competing in Speedway become reality when his family purchased a Lightning Sprint. Whilst competing in this class they became back to back Challenge Series Champions, Track Champions and Victorian State Title winners.

In the middle of 2011 Sam decided it was time to explore the world and head over to America to learn more about Sprintcars. His time in the states was spent with Brady Bacon Racing on the ASCS National Tour. Over the three month period he learnt a lot with the team. Being involved in the Knoxville Nationals was certainly a highlight for Sam and is something that he will never forget.

While in America Sam and his new team purchased two complete 2011 XXX Rollers. They sourced an ASCS 360ci engine and various spare parts. On his return to Australia the team formed and is referred to as TEAM TVE.
