Weekend Wrap Up South Australian Sprintcar Title
Hope the start of your week has been kind to you. I sit here in my lounge room relaxing now that the team are completely washed up, valves have been run and all engine maintenance is complete.
This past weekend the team were involved in the very prestigious South Australian Sprintcar Title. The nominations were solid with 40 cars registering from a range of different states.
Our two goals this week were to qualify higher in the order and make the A-Main. I'm stoked to report that the team accomplished both of these goals. We qualified so well for the first time in a very long time and I'm stoked that all the thinking and changes that we have made on this car are starting to show.
Quick Results:
Qualifying - 6th in our flight
Heat 1 - Started 2nd / Finished 4th (Top 4 were inverted, thus means we had quick guys start directly behind us)
A-Main - Started 16th / Finished 15th
It was an World of Outlaws style format where teams only get one shot with one heat race. Once we qualified well, all we had to do was finish in the top 4 in our heat and we qualify directly into the A-Main. This is what occurred to us and the team were pumped with the results on the night and hope that you are equally excited.
We know the importance of qualifying, as it absolutely sets up your whole night!!! My brain has been working overtime with new ideas and making the positive changes that we have been setting like concrete in my mind. The more we head in this direction the easier the car is becoming to drive.
The team now prepare everything for what is shaping to be some very fast and furious racing over the Christmas period. From here the schedule looks like this:
Dec 26 - World Series Speedweek Round 1 @ Murray Bridge
Dec 27 - World Series Speedweek Round 2 @ Murray Bridge
Dec 28 - World Series Speedweek Round 3 @ Mount Gambier
Dec 30 - World Series Speedweek Round 4 @ Avalon
Jan 1 - World Series Speedweek Round 5 @ Warrnambool
But before this, both Elana and I are off for our very first holiday of 2017... CAIRNS!
