Daniels Takes Stock Car Thriller

Rain fell almost everywhere else in the state, but the sun was shining at Stuart Speedway this past Wednesday night! Ramsey Meyer and Rigby/Carpenter were the makeup feature winners while Jerry Larson, Brayton Carter, Josh Daniels, Josh Gilman, Brandon Cox, Mitchell Bunch and Gibbons/Gross were the winners on Sargent Buildings & Ricks Towing night at the races.
Makeup features from June 11 were first up as the IMCA Sport Compacts came out with Kolby Sabin and Bruce Hower on the front row. Ramsey Meyer and Mitchell Bunch made it to the front in short order and separated themselves from the field as the race wound down. Bunch made it interesting, but Meyer was too strong and went on to take the win. Bunch finished second with Tyler Fiebelkorn third, Curtis Masterson fourth and Colton Garside fifth.
Chad Rigby/Carson Carpenter outlasted Chris Mitchell/Shelby West in the Cruiser Car makeup show. Kyle Gibbons/Collin Gross finished third.
After heat races for the regular night were ran it was the Outlaw Mini Mods coming to the track with Nathan Kilwine and Bobby Ruehlow on the front row. Kilwine led the first eight laps with Jerry Larson close behind. Lap nine saw Larson taking the lead with Kilwine and Justin Besch duking it out for second. Larson drove off to the win with Kilwine second, Besch third, Cole Bennerotte fourth and Tyler Johnson fifth. Kilwine and Besch were the heat race winners.
Brandon Patava and Mitchell Morris brought the IMCA Northern SportMods to the track next with Colton Nelson coming from fourth to lead lap one. David Schwartz and Kody Havens held down second and third until Morris pounded the turn three wall to bring out the caution on lap five. Nelson led two more circuits until tenth starting Brayton Carter blasted into the lead on lap eight. Nelson and Hunter Longnecker took their turns at the leader, but it was not to be as Carter went on to the win. Longnecker finished second with Nelson third, Havens fourth and Garrett Nelson fifth. Longnecker and Tyler Inman were the heat race winners.
IMCA Stock Cars came out next with Jeremy Gettler and Brock Badger on the front row. Gettler led lap one with Chris Pruitt swinging past to take the top spot on lap two just before the caution came out. When the cars roared back to life it was Pruitt leading Gettler and Todd VanEaton through lap five. VanEaton moved to second on lap six, but at the halfway point Josh Daniels snuck into the runner up position. Lap sixteen saw another yellow, and this made for one exciting finish! Pruitt led lap seventeen, but as he pushed up a bit coming out of turn four Daniels pounced and moved to the inside. After some contact in turn one Daniels got position out front with the top four under a blanket as they came down the backstretch on the last lap. Daniels took the hard fought win with Pruitt second, Gettler by a bumper in third, Brandon Pruitt fourth and VanEaton fifth in an absolute barn burner! Gettler and Chad Legere were the heat race winners.
Bob Daniels and John Davis led the IMCA Modifieds to green with Davis leading lap one. Cory Sauerman took over on lap two and led the next three laps, but it was Josh Gilman rocketing into the lead on lap six and dominating the rest of the way to take the win. Jesse Dennis finished second with Matthew Meinecke third, Sauerman fourth and Tony Hilgenberg fifth. Gilman and Dennis were the heat race winners.
IMCA Hobby Stocks were up next with Matthew Wahl and Nick Foster on the front row. Brandon Cox assumed the top spot on lap one with Foster and Jack Phillips close behind. As the race wound down Corey Madden charged through the field and made it to second on lap twelve. Madden made a move for the lead with two to go and after some contact took over the top spot, but it wouldn’t last as the contact flattened Madden’s right front tire. Cox reassumed the lead and went on to take his first win of the season. Phillips finished second with Foster third, Adam Ayers fourth and John Watson fifth. Ayers and Phillips were the heat race winners.
BJ Charlson and Tyler Fiebelkorn led the IMCA Sport Compacts to green with Fiebelkorn leading lap one. Mitchell Bunch passed Charlson for second on lap two and shot into the lead on lap five. Ramsey Meyer worked through the field to second on lap eight and set out to get his second win of the night, but Bunch was too tough and went on to the win. Meyer finished second with Colton Garside third, Logan Richards fourth and Fiebelkorn fifth. Curtis Masterson, Bunch and Fiebelkorn were the heat race winners.
Cruiser Cars were the last race on the track with Kyle Gibbons/Colin Gross taking the win. Chad Rigby/Carson Carpenter finished second with Chris Mitchell/Shelby West rounding out the field.
We’d like to thank all who came out to support the race track at our eighth event of the year. Next week is another run of weekly racing with Casey's General Store & Karl Chevrolet of Stuart Night at the Races. See you then!
