PETERSEN MEDIA: Building off momentum from a Top-10 at Wilmot Raceway last week, Paul McMahan and the Destiny Motorsports team had a good Friday night in Pevely, MO, and looked to be off to a good start on Saturday night until Mother Nature delayed the Ironman 55 finale.

“With Nationals on the horizon it was a good shot in the arm for our race team,” Paul McMahan said. “We ran well in Wisconsin and that seemed to transfer over to Pevely, MO on Friday night, and then in time trials on Saturday night.”

Checking in at the Federated Auto Parts I-55 Speedway on Friday night, McMahan timed the MonDak Portables/Ft. Union Supply and Trading/Champion Brand Lubricants No. 4 in 11th quickest in time trials.

Lining up third in his heat race, McMahan would look very good on the bottom of high-banked speedway, as he carved his way to the front and picked up the win and became Dash eligible.

Finishing seventh in the Dash on the slick surface, McMahan would line up in the fourth row for the 35-lap feature event. On this night, the track would take rubber very early in the race, and McMahan would get in line and go.

Staying inside the Top-10, McMahan would take his ninth place finish and move on to Saturday night’s Ironman 55 finale.

With weather in the area, series officials were in hurry up mode on Saturday night, but after timing in fourth fastest in time trials, the skies opened up and the race would be postponed to a later date.

Making the journey to Knoxville, IA to take part in the Capitani Classic, McMahan would get a little behind in the program and found himself in the fifth row of his heat race.

Getting a killer start, McMahan would rocket his way up to the fifth spot, but unable to crack the Top-Three he would be forced into one of the twin ‘B’ Mains where a 10th place finish would end his night.

Traveling to Oskaloosa, IA on Monday night to participate in the 22nd Annual Front Row Challenge, McMahan would time the All Star Performance/KSE Racing Products/FK Indy backed entry in 15th quickest in qualifying time trials.

Lining up third in his heat race, the Nashville, TN resident would finish fourth and move into the 30-lap feature event. Taking the green flag from the 14th starting position, McMahan would quickly jump up and battle for a spot in the Top-10.

As the race would be slowed just one time on the fifth lap, McMahan would continue to run in the 11th spot as he vied for another Top-10. In the closing laps, McMahan seemed to be destined to finish 11th, but a late mechanical issue coming to the checkered would see McMahan slip back and finish in the 13th position.

“We got to Knoxville and struggled a little bit Sunday, and that wasn’t where we hoped we would be by any means,” McMahan said. “We seemed to be a little better at Oskaloosa on Monday night, and now it gets real as the Nationals are upon us. These guys have worked hard and will continue to do so and we will give it all we have got come Wednesday night.”

Destiny Motorsports would like to thank MonDak Portables, Ft. Union Supply and Trading, Champion Brand Lubricants, All Star Performance, KSE Racing Products, FK Indy, HRP, KPC, PPM Titanium, Chalk Stix, Wilwood, Keizer Wheels, Simpson, Petersen Media, My Race Pass, Speedway Engines, FK Rod Ends, Boss Signs and Graphics, Classic Ink, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Hoosier Tires North, and BulterBuilt for their continued support.
