Limited Sprint Showdown
Cory Swatzina of Sedro Woolley and Olympia's Destry Miller set the front row of the 25 lap feature event. Swatzina took the early lead as Bill Rude of Mt. Vernon moved into second. Destry Miller ran in third with Monroe driver Kiera Zylstra sitting in the fourth spot. Swatzina and Rude put some distance on Destry Miller, with Rude looking to the make a battle for the lead. Swatzina ran high, Rude went to the low side. Swatzina continued to lead, having the upper hand. Lap 9 saw the caution flag fly for Casey Starr of Newberg, Ore spinning in turn four. Swatzina, Rude, Destry Miller and Zylstra led the rest of the field to the green flag but the caution flag flew for Samuel Strange Racing of Tacoma with a broken left wheel. On the restart Swatzina and Rude once again pulled away from the rest of the field until late in the race as lap traffic started to be a factor. Rude slowly started to reel in Swatzina. Lap 18 saw disaster strike for Cory Swatzina Racing making contact with the infield tire in turn four and getting upside down. Swatzina exited the car under his own power. Rude inherited the lead with Destry Miller right on his back bumper. The top four continued to spread out, but the battle for fifth between a pair of Arlington drivers was the race to watch. Parker Hadlock and Axel Oudman battled it out in the final handful of laps. Oudman moved into the top five and looking to track down Levi Kuntz of Carnation in the fourth spot. Rude Racing Team 33 picked up his first ever Grays Harbor Raceway win, Destry Miller, Zylstra Racing, LPK Racing , and Oudmanracing7o rounded out the top five. Two sets of heat races were earlier in the evening with Destry Miller and Kuntz winning the first set. Hadlock and Zylstra won the second set. Swatzina picked up the dash win.
PHRA Dwarf Cars
Jim Fischer of Portland, Ore led the field to the green flag in the feature. Hillsboro's Mike Chadwick worked his way into second. The red flag flew on the opening lap after Tylor Howard of Kent made hard contact with the backstretch wall. Crystal Flath of Corbett, Ore had nowhere to go and made contact. Both drivers did exit the car and were ok. On the restart it was Fischer, and Mollala, Ore driver Jim Pavel leading the field to the green. Fischer took the early lead as Chadwick worked his way into second. Chadwick took the lead down the backstretch bringing Rob Glenney of Redmond, Ore and Gaston, Ore's Corey Esteban. Chadwick put some slight distance on Glenney, running the low side of the 3/8 banked clay oval. Esteban moved into second, looking to track down Chadwick for the lead. Henry Corbin III of Mollala, Ore worked his way into a podium spot, getting by Glenney early on. Chadwick saw tough company as Esteban was right on his back bumper. Esteban took the lead with a pass in turn four. Chadwick made a couple attempts to get the lead back. Corbin III joined in on the battle, staying within striking distance of Esteban and Chadwick. Another late race charge saw Chadwick make a few attempts in turn one but it was Esteban picking up the win over Chadwick, Corbin III, Glenney and Fischer. Esteban and Howard were heat race winners earlier in the evening.
PMSA 600cc Micro Sprints
Paul Cengic of Carson took the early lead into turn one but it was Barry Lampert of Mollala, Ore quickly taking over the top spot. Scio, Ore driver Gage Ferrando moved into third, battling with Doug Pirtle of Corbett, Ore and Eric Dehning of Woodland. Ferrando worked his way into second, getting by Cengic, setting his sights on Lampert. Ferrando's night ended a handful of laps later, bringing out the caution, after slowing on the front stretch. Lampert brought Cengic, Pirtle and Dehning to the green flag. Lampert wasted no time putting distance on Cengic. Late in the feature Dehning worked his way into the top three, getting by Pirtle. It was all Lampert in the feature event, taking the checkered flag. Cengic, Dehning, Pirtle and #4 Micro Sprint (late arrival) rounded out the top five. Cengic picked up the heat race win.
