VSR Looks to Continue Hunt Streak in Placerville

This Saturday night at Placerville Speedway, the VanLare Steering Repair Racing juggernaut will invade the tight ¼ mile bullring owners of the first two main event wins of the Joe Hunt Magneto Wingless Series. The first Hunt race of the season at Chico’s Silver Dollar Speedway was won by Rio Linda’s Scott Hall in the VSR #56v, while Round 2 at Petaluma Speedway was won by Sebastopol’s Geoff Ensign in the VSR #5v with Hall in the #56v finishing third. A total of three VSR cars will be in attendance, with the #5d VSR entry rounding out the three pronged attack of VSR cars. This weekend, a new driver will be at the controls of the #5d, Chico’s Taylor Simas. Simas has been chasing points with the USAC Western Classic Racing Series in 2012, and looks to get into the win column at Placerville.

The VSR lineup headed into Round 3 of the Joe Hunt Magneto Wingless Sprint Car Shootout..

#56v, Scott Hall: The Rio Linda native has one main event win in 2012, a victory in the Silver Cup at Chico’s Silver Dollar Speedway, his first win at the legendary ¼ mile oval. Hall currently sits second in Hunt Points, and also resides in the same spot in the PitStopUSA Wingless Sprint Car Series at Petaluma Speedway. You can find Scott Hall on the internet at www.hall-bros-racing.com.

#5v, Geoff Ensign: “The Human Highlight Reel” and Sebastopol resident has three main event wins in the 2012 race season while running a schedule that could best be described as scattered. Ensign has already turned laps at Canyon Speedway in Arizona, Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, Chico’s Silver Dollar Speedway and Petaluma Speedway in both winged and wingless sprint cars while winning two winged main events and one wingless main event along the way. Ensign can be found on the web at www.ensignmotorsports.com

#5d, Taylor Simas: Chico resident Simas debuts in the VSR #5d this year at Placerville coming off a trip to Watsonville’s Ocean Speedway where he raced the USAC/CRA race at the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds bullring. Simas has authored numerous outlaw kart wins and looks to break the seal on a 2012 sprint car main event win this weekend.
