Inside Line Promotions – PEVELY, Mo. (Aug. 8, 2018) – Sides Motorsports will return to a two-car team this week throughout the 58th annual 5-Hour Energy Knoxville Nationals presented by Casey’s General Stores.

Californian Tim Kaeding will join Jason Sides to tackle sprint car racing’s biggest event of the season, which is held this Wednesday through Saturday at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa.

“Tim did a great job driving for us earlier this season in California and he’s had a lot of success at Knoxville so we’re all excited about this week,” Sides said. “The goal is to put both of our cars into Saturday’s A Main.”

Sides, who was the 2001 Rookie of the Nationals, has advanced into the Knoxville Nationals A Main seven times including last year. His best result came in 2010 with a 12th-place result.

Kaeding also has seven A Main starts at the Knoxville Nationals. His top performance was a fourth-place outing in 2009.

Sides competed last weekend with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 during the Ironman 55, which featured a 55-lap main event on both Friday and Saturday.

“It was a tough deal all weekend, but we ended on a positive note,” he said.

Sides overcame a 22nd-place qualifying run on Friday by advancing from eighth to sixth place during a heat race at the high-banked oval. He capped the night with a 16th-place finish in the A Main.

The weekend wrapped up on Saturday with Sides timing in 15th quickest in qualifying. He finished eighth in a heat race and fifth in the Last Chance Showdown before maneuvering from 23rd to 15th in the main event. It was the third-most cars passed.

“We’ve had success in Pevely, but qualifying put us behind the eight ball both nights,” he said. “It was good to make progress on Saturday in the A Main and move forward. Now we’re looking forward to the opportunity this week presents at the Knoxville Nationals.”
