Dupo, IL (May 16, 2017) After getting to race close to home nearly every weekend in 2016, Justin Henderson and his BDS Motorsports team decided to hit the road this season with the ASCS National Sprint Car tour. While the season has kicked off on the road, Justin and the team returned to the Sioux Falls area this past weekend to compete in the Silver Shootout at the Badlands Motor Speedway. Justin also took the time while at home to visit the Sanford Children’s Hospital in Sioux Falls and make the day a little brighter for some young patients.

The race week started on Thursday last week, when the team loaded up and traveled down to Lakeside Speedway for the KC Klassic sanctioned by ASCS. In racing action, Justin picked up a third-place finish in his heat race and transferred directly into the 25-lap A-main event. In A-main action, the BDS #1 just never got moving forward; starting and finishing in the 15th position. Justin currently sits seventh in ASCS National points and is leading the chase in the Brodix Rookie of the Year competition for the series. Up next on the ASCS schedule is a Memorial Day weekend trip to Colorado, where the BDS Motorsports team will have its show car on display and be racing at El Paso County Raceway on Saturday, May 27th and Phillips County Raceway on Sunday the 28th.

After racing Thursday night, Justin returned home to the Sioux Falls area and made a special visit to the Sanford Children’s Hospital on Friday. During the visit, Justin was able to meet several young patients in the hospital and give them special gifts from the BDS Motorsports team. Each patient was given a coloring book, stickers, hero cards, and even Knoxville Sprint Car Hall of Fame posters. Several of the children asked for their pictures with Justin and it was a great day for everyone involved. BDS Motorsports would like to thank the staff at the hospital for allowing the team to visit and we can’t wait to plan our next trip.

Saturday was the big return of sprint car racing to the Badlands Motor Speedway for the Folkens Brothers Trucking Silver Shootout. Featuring one of the coolest payouts in racing, the Silver Shootout pays the feature purse in silver bars. In qualifying action, Justin qualified 16th overall, putting him sixth in the first heat race. With tough competition, Justin moved forward one spot to a fifth-place heat race finish. Based on his qualifying effort, Justin lined the Al Parker powered Eagle Chassis up 14th in the A-main. Having a good car underneath him, Justin drove the BDS #1 forward to a great seventh place finish. While the team always strives for wins, a seventh-place finish after starting 14th was a great way to end the homecoming weekend for Justin and the team.

Both Justin and teammate Andee Beierle will be in action for the Colorado double header weekend. They will both also be doing appearances at the BDS Motorsports show trailer. Fans in the area can stop by the BDS show trailer and pick up free samples from some of the team’s great sponsors. Young fans can also stop by the trailer and pick up special “BDS Motorsports Kids Club” bags full of great goodies just for them. If you’re in the area, be sure to come out and support BDS Motorsports and the ASCS National Sprint Cars.

In order for the BDS Motorsports team to stay up front on the track and stay number one with its fans, it takes the work of every team member and sponsor. The entire BDS team would like to thank those sponsors that help make each race event possible.
