SAPULPA, Okla. (October 24, 2016) After Mother Nature scraped a trip to the Jason Leffler Memorial, Blake Hahn turned his attention back to the Sprint Car with a trip to Kansas to take on the National Championship Racing Association (NCRA).

Starting off the night with a failed power plant under the bonnet of the Lucas Oil/JR1 Racecars No. 52 during his Heat Race, the Oklahoma native rallied from 18th to second on Saturday at the Salina Speedway in Salina, Kan.

“Definitely not what we needed, but my team did an great job getting the engines swapped out and getting us back on track,” said Hahn who entered the weekend utilizing a spare car following a hard crash at the Devil’s Bowl Speedway the weekend before.

“There was no real warning. I was up to about fourth in my Heat Race before it bogged down so I killed it with the fuel and coasted to the Pits. Ended up, we broke the rod on the first cylinder.”

The DNF in the Heat Race put Hahn starting dead last in the A-Feature lineup. With the team focused on swapping out one Wesmar for another, very little time was given to the setup. That didn’t seem to bother Hahn.

“The car was actually great in the feature for no more time than we had to work on the setup. We had a few cautions on the start that helped, but once we got rolling, the car felt really good. I was running pretty much around the top until I saw Carney on the bottom in three and four so I moved down and kept my line in one and two high so I could keep my momentum up.”

Advancing into the top five by Lap 15, Hahn moved to second in the closing laps, but would not be able to track down Jeremy Campbell.

“Overall, it was a good race. On that last restart, I felt like we had a shot to win, but we just ran out of time.”

Up next for Hahn is the Creek County Fall Fling with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network on Friday, November 4 and Saturday, November 5.
