US 36 Hosts MWRA For Race Number 16

Osborn, Mo: For the 4th time this season the Wholesale Batteries USAC Midwest Wingless Racing Association Sprint Cars take to the track at US 36 Raceway this Friday night September 22nd for race number 16 of 18 on “The Road To A Championship” in 2023.

This event will be the last one before the MWRA concludes their 2023 slate on Friday, September 29th, and Saturday, September 30th, for the Missouri Nationals also at the US 36 Raceway Dirt Track.

So far in 2023 this USAC Non Winged Sprint Series has run 15 events at 9 different venues this season. With 8 different drivers taking the checkered flag first from the states of Kansas (8), Missouri (5), Oklahoma (1), and California (1). While 3 drivers, Missouris Braydon Cromwell, Oklahomas Ty Hulsey, and Californias Ricky Lewis, have “Parked It” in victory lane with the MWRA for the first time ever this year with the MWRA.

At US 36 previously on May 26th the “Sheriff” Wyatt Burks took the victory driving the WBR 11w. And again over Labor Day weekend at the Northwest Missouri Speed Plant when the point leader, and defending champ, out dueled July 21st victor at Osborn Kory Schudy driving the Jon Sawyer Racing 28.

Who will take the checkers first this time? Many contenders will have the opportunity, including 2nd place in points Chris Parkinson driving the CPR 65 with (6 top 5’s) in 2023, and his teammate Chad Winfrey, (12 top 10’s) this season on board of the 65w who holds down the 3rd spot in points.

Brad Wyatt in the Valor Racing 41 is also having a fine season with the MWRA running 4th in points, and like Parkinson, and Winfrey, is looking for his first victory of 2023 with the MWRA after a career best finish earlier this season at 81 Speedway with the Midwest Wingless sprints.

Having his finest year ever in sprint car racing in his fourth season of competition, Dakota Earls, driving the DER 15e won his first ever sprint car race this summer with the WiNS series, while also taking 2nd place with the MWRA at Lakeside for his best result ever with this Heartland sprint series.

While drivers of note who may compete Friday include Justin Johnson running 6th in points in the JJR 27 this season with the MWRA making the feature in all 15 races. 7th in points, Buddy Parker, driving the Weld & Parkinson Racing 93 has had his best results after coming out of retirement with (5 top 10’s) in 14 starts including finishing 6th at I-35. With 8th place Zach Clark turning the wheel in the ZCR 26 to a career best 2nd place at ECS, and another podium at I-35.

Rounding out the top 10 in points going into US 36 9th place Luke Howard driving the Howard 2H missed the first four races of 2023 with the MWRA but has rebounded nicely since with a victory at Bethany, and 7 top 5 finishes in 11 starts racing his machine wrenched by Brent Lewis. Coming in at the 10th spot Kory Schudy has had a great year running the Jon Sawyer Racing (JSR) 28 non winged sprint including 3 wins with the MWRA, and 8 top 3’s in 10 starts with the series.
