Kemenah Captures Two Second Place Finishes Over The Weekend

The 2014 season has been very tough on Chad Kemenah and crew member AJ Havens. Kemenah and Havens have spent hours in the Alvada, Ohio shop searching for answers and they may have found it.

On Friday night Kemenah returned to Attica Raceway Park, a track he’s had a great deal of success at over the years. When the famous white and red No.63 sprint car pushed off for the feature Kemenah knew he would have his hands full the entire feature but he remained calm.

Craig Mintz led the field down to the green flag and immediately pulled away from everyone. Kemenah quickly settled into the third position and he started to make his way towards the front. Kemenah and Caleb Helms would battle for the runner up spot for numerous laps until Kemenah made the pass on Lap-10.

After the pass was completed Kemenah started to make his way forward but Mintz had other plans as he continued to work traffic perfectly. Kemenah would need a caution and he got it with 12 Laps to go in the feature. On the ensuing restart Mintz powered away from Kemenah, but Kemenah started to feel the pressure from Caleb Helms and Byron Reed. Kemenah would hold off both driver and take home a well deserved second place finish.

“We definitely needed this finish tonight, we have been struggling for awhile now and I have to thank Tony Beaber for helping us out this past week,” said Kemenah. “The car felt great from start to finish, Caleb Helms and I battled pretty hard and I knew he would not go away without a fight. The track was excellent we could race anywhere we wanted to and hopefully the fans enjoyed the races tonight. Once again I have to thank Tony Beaber, AJ Havens, Bob Hampshire and everyone that makes this deal work, it’s been a tough 2014 so far but hopefully we start seeing more results like we had tonight.”

On Saturday night Kemenah was back in University Northwestern Ohio All Stars Circuit Of Champions at the Butler Speedway located in Quincy, Michigan.

With full All Star points on the line Kemenah had to be sharp right away and he timed in 10th quick overall and backed it up with a second place finish in his heat race.

As the evening progressed the track started to get rough and passing was definitely at a premium and starting near the front was crucial and Kemenah lined up on the inside of the second row.

Looking to pick up his first All Star win of the season Kemenah played it cool on the start and quickly settled into the third position. As the race progressed the car was getting faster and faster, and with the leader in lapped traffic Kemenah saw his opening and made his move but the caution flag would come out.
On the restart Kemenah was able to keep pace with Danny Holtgraver but he was unable to pass him for the lead. Kemenah again played it calm cool and collective as he waited for lapped traffic and the white No.63 was getting ready to make another bid at the lead but another caution would come out over the speedway.

Kemenah continued to pressure Holtgraver for the remainder of the race but was unable to get by him. Kemenah would cross the finish line in second place for the second consecutive night.

“That was a good race tonight we had an excellent car and we did not need those yellow flags to take us out of traffic,” said Kemenah. “The track was tricky it was rough in some areas and slick in others so you had to be on point to pass cars. I have to thank Tony Beaber, AJ Havens, Bob Hampshire, my wife Tracy and everyone that has continued to support us this season, it’s been tough but we will continue to come out here and give it everything we have. It’s going to be a short week with a trip to New York and next Friday at the Williams Grove Speedway and Saturday night at the Lincoln Speedway, we always look forward to racing out east.”
