Tankersley Taking on Winter Nationals and Short Track Nationals

Inside Line Promotions – HIGHLANDS, Texas (Oct. 8, 2014) – Fresh off his first career sprint car championship, Channin Tankersley has a couple of marquee events coming up.

Tankersley, who recently claimed the ASCS Gulf South Region championship, will drive for longtime sponsor Bruce Griffith during a pair of Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour events this month.

“It’s always good to test yourself against the best and thanks to Bruce I have the opportunity to race with the ASCS National Tour a few times,” Tankersley said. “I’ve had a good season so hopefully I can continue this momentum and earn a victory or two.”

Tankersley will compete Oct. 17-18 at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, for the 41st annual Winter Nationals.

“I enjoy racing at Devil’s Bowl,” he said. “It’s a challenging track, but one where I’ve had some success. That place takes a lot of laps before a driver can be in contention and I feel like we have a shot to do well there.”

Tankersley will also compete for Griffith the following weekend during the 27th annual COMP Cams Short Track Nationals Presented by Hoosier Tires Oct. 22-25 at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark. Tankersley drove his way into the $15,000-to-win feature last season at the quarter-mile track.

“There’s always a ton of talented drivers and great teams there so the first goal is to the make the main event on the final night,” he said. “If you can do that you’ve already accomplished a lot. Then the goals become earning a top 10, a top five, a podium finish and a win.”

Tankersley has recorded three feature victories this season and 14 top fives. He is looking for his first top five of the season with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.
