Tankersley Seeking First Win of the Season Entering ASCS Gulf South Doubleheader

Inside Line Promotions – MESQUITE, Texas (June 16, 2015) – Channin Tankersley is scheduled to resume ASCS Gulf South Region competition this weekend.

Tankersley is slated to compete – weather permitting – on Friday at Golden Triangle Raceway Park in Beaumont, Texas, and Saturday at Gator Motorplex in Willis, Texas.

“I’m feeling pretty confident going into this weekend,” he said. “I know we have the speed. We’re in the top three pretty much every night down here. We just have to get our program lined out. We have good equipment. We’ve just had freak bad luck. Either we’re in the wrong place at the wrong time or we have a problem. We just can’t seem to catch a break for some reason.”

Tankersley has recorded a top-10 finish at Golden Triangle Raceway Park during nine of the past 10 races, including a season-high runner-up result on May 1. He earned top 10s during both races at Gator Motorplex last season.

“We’ve done well at both tracks so I have the confidence that we can pick up a win or two this weekend,” he said. “It’d be nice to get that first win of the season out of the way.”

Tankersley raced with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour last Saturday at Devil’s Bowl Speedway, where he ran into some tough luck.

“Something always happens there,” he said. “We had a little engine trouble starting out and we drew bad on a heavy, fast track.”

Tankersley advanced from sixth to fifth place in a heat race and from fourth to third place in a B Main to transfer into the main event.

“I started in the back and passed a few cars,” he said. “I think the highest I got was up to 15th or so. The car was overheating a little bit so I just shut it down rather than cause any damage. We were going forward. We might have had a top-10 car.”

Tankersley was credited with a 20th-place result after pulling in just before the midpoint of the feature.
