Trenca Earns Podium Finish at Thunder Mountain Speedway

Inside Line Promotions – CENTER LISLE, N.Y. (Sept. 6, 2016) – Joe Trenca posted his second podium finish of the season last Saturday at Thunder Mountain Speedway to cap a Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints doubleheader.

“We’re moving in the right direction,” he said. “I know our first win is coming. I’ve learned a lot as a driver and we’ve grown as a team.”

Mucci Motorsports opened last weekend on Friday by placing sixth during a heat race at Brewerton Speedway in Brewerton, N.Y. Trenca then ended second in the B Main to earn a transfer into the back of the main event.

“We were good in the hot laps, but the track really wasn’t very good for passing,” he said. “It was locked down and wide open. Once it slicked off in the feature we were able to make up some ground.

“It was a slow paced race. It was tough. There were cars all over the track. Guys on the top, bottom, middle. I had to go wherever I could.”

Trenca maneuvered from 22nd to a 14th-place result.

The team continued to move forward on Saturday at Thunder Mountain Speedway, where Trenca advanced to a third-place finish in a heat race to make the feature redraw. He pulled the No. 5 to start the main event on the inside of the third row.

“I knew starting position would be big so we were happy with the five,” he said. “We fell back to sixth, but I wasn’t worried. We were really tight early. The track was rough, fast and had a big cushion. I took a few too many laps to get by some cars and I wasn’t as aggressive as I should have been. Toward the end the car got really good. We had a late restart and I got under second place getting into turn one, but he protected so we finished third. I was happy with it.”

Trenca’s third-place result was his fourth top five of the season.

He will take this weekend off before resuming competition on Sept. 17 at Ohsweken Speedway in Ohsweken, Ontario, Canada, for the Canadian Sprint Car Nationals.
