Inside Line Promotions – ELMA, Wash. (July 1, 2019) – Robbie Price was riding high off the momentum of capturing his first career Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour victory as he entered the Fred Brownfield Classic at Grays Harbor Raceway last weekend.

Price was able to qualify for the feature event both nights, coming home with a solid 12th-place showing on Friday and an eighth-place finish on Saturday during the finale.

“Grays Harbor is a track I’ve always struggled with so to get in the main event both nights is a win in itself,” he said

Night 1 began with Price starting sixth in his heat race and advancing one position to finish fifth. The format called for the top 16 in passing points to advance directly to the feature and Price snuck in there as the driver ranked 16th in points.

After steadily advancing his way to the ninth position during the 25-lap feature, Price got bottled up on a late restart, which allowed multiple cars to get past him. He rebounded for a 12th-place finish.

“I ended up in the first heat and the track was really one line out there that early in the night,” he said. “I kind of made a mistake getting bunched up on a restart in the feature and let a top 10 get away from us. But overall it wasn’t a horrible night.”

Saturday looked promising after the draw put Price in the third starting position in a heat race. He placed fourth and that ranked him 16th for the second consecutive night.

Using the high line of the speedway, Price steadily advanced through the field to come home with an eighth-place result.

“We were a lot better the second night, but overall I think eighth was about as good as we were going to be,” he said. “I found a line I liked and kind of settled in out there and just made moves when I could.

“It’s nice making features, but we have got to be a little better earlier in the night. Otherwise we’re just making it harder on ourselves starting so far back.”

Following the completion of the weekend’s events, Price currently sits in the seventh position in the ASCS National Tour championship standings. The next event on the series schedule is a two-day show at Gallatin Speedway in Belgrade, Mont., July 12-13 for the Grizzly Nationals. However, Price may head back to the Skagit Speedway in Alger, Wash., for the track’s Mid-Season Championship race this Saturday to back up his big Dirt Cup win.

“We’re riding a bit of momentum so I’m not sure if we’ll wait until Montana to get back on the track,” he said. “We obviously just won at Skagit so depending on if the format allows us to run well and have a shot, we may head back there. We’re going to play it by ear and see what happens.”
