Inside Line Promotions – ALGER, Wash. (July 30, 2019) – Robbie Price scored a pair of eighth-place finishes last weekend during the Bob’s Burger & Brew Summer Nationals at Skagit Speedway.

The event began on Friday with Price going out last in time trials. He laid down a lap of 12.118 seconds, which was good enough for eighth quickest overall among 26 cars. He advanced one spot in a heat race to finish second, locking himself into the A Main.

“I should have won that heat race, but I didn’t really pick my spots very well on the track and I waited too long to make my move,” he said.

Price lined up third in the feature event and he settled into the fifth spot for most of the race. A late-race restart allowed three cars to pass him before he took the checkered flag in the eighth position.

“We were definitely a top-five car, but I made a wrong choice on a late restart and I let a few guys get by me,” he said. “The car was really good all night and ultimately the driver cost us a better finish.”

The finale started off on a sour note as Price got over the curb on consecutive laps during time trials and as a result timed in with the 17th fastest lap, missing the heat race inversion by one position.

That put him in the sixth starting position in a heat race. He advanced two spots to fourth, which qualified for the feature as a result.

Price started 19th and had his work cut out for him during the 40-lap race. With a fast race car under him, Price worked himself up into the top 10. However, once again he was hurt by late-race restarts and settled for another eighth-place finish – his 11th top 10 of 2019. As a result of gaining the most positions in the field, Price was named the Triple X Hard Charger.

“We were good, but I wasn’t very aggressive the first half of the race,” he said. “Once I got going we were really good. I was great on long runs, but the last few restarts hurt me. Personally, I thought we were a fourth or fifth-place car. I buried us early in the night with the mistake in time trials and then on the restarts. It’s something I have to get better at as a driver.”

Next up on the schedule is the 29th annual My Place Hotels 360 Knoxville Nationals presented by Great Southern Bank this weekend at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa. Price’s preliminary night is Thursday and the event finale is Saturday.

Price has four career starts at the famed track and this will be his first-ever attempt at the 360 Knoxville Nationals. He’s hoping to gain valuable experience and to be a part of the feature event Saturday night.

“I’m really hoping to just put it in the Saturday night A Main and I think that’s a reasonable goal,” he said. “I ran a few times there last year and I was really comfortable in the car and on the track. I’m looking forward to it and I think we can contend come Saturday.”
