Inside Line Promotions – LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Oct. 3, 2017) – Marshall Skinner is excited for the next race on the schedule this Saturday at Talladega Short Track, where he’s enjoyed recent success.

“I’ve run pretty well there lately,” he said. “I won a USCS Speedweek race there earlier this year and finished second there last fall. I’m looking forward to racing there again.”

The USCS Series event at the bullring in Eastaboga, Ala., is the next challenge for Skinner, who has recently endured a pair of frustrating weekends.

Skinner competed in a field of 32 cars for the Ralph Henson Memorial last Saturday with the ASCS Mid-South Region at I-30 Speedway. His evening got off to a solid start with a fourth-place finish in his heat race after starting eighth. That earned a spot in the feature redraw, in which Skinner pulled the highest number – eight – to start the A Main eighth.

“I was running seventh in the feature when I got tired of following everyone else,” he said. “I moved off the bottom and tried something else. Then it was like a freight train with everyone going by me on the bottom. That track’s been different since they added some dirt on it about a month and a half ago. It’s very unforgiving. Clean air and track position are everything.”

Skinner finished 11th in the race.

The previous Saturday he competed at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark., where he was in contention for a track championship. After finishing third in a heat race and starting fifth in the main event, misfortune on the race track relegated him to a 17th-place result.

“On the second lap a guy came from the top, straight across the track and hit my right rear,” he said. “I never saw him coming. I did everything but turn over. It tore the car up pretty good. It was disappointing not being able to race for the title, but that’s a part of racing. You just regroup and go again next week.”
