Hill Scores First Career 360ci Winged Sprint Car Win in Return to Home Track

Inside Line Promotions – OHSWEKEN, Ontario, Canada (May 23, 2017) – Traveling the country on the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour has paid dividends for Alex Hill, who recorded her first career 360ci winged sprint car win last Friday during the return to her home track.

“It was pretty awesome,” she said. “We haven’t been so good at Ohsweken Speedway the last couple of races. I think being on the road gave me confidence because any other time if I saw Glenn (Styres) pull up beside me I would have freaked out. This time I took his line away and did something about it.”

Hill kicked off the 22nd annual Season Opening Night by advancing from third to second place in a heat race. That advanced her and the Hill’s Racing Team into the feature redraw, in which she pulled the No. 1 to start the main event on the pole.

“I fell to second on the start,” she said. “Something happened to the leader’s car around Lap 5 so I inherited the lead. At one point I was side by side with Glenn for the lead, but I took his line away and kept the lead. Then on the last lap someone spun near the line I was running. I slowed down and saw the nose of the second-place driver so I gassed it up and just crossed the finish line first.”

The victory was her third career at her home track and the first in the division. It gives Hill momentum as she returns to ASCS National Tour competition this Saturday at El Paso County Raceway in Calhan, Colo., and Sunday at Phillips County Raceway in Holyoke, Colo. It will mark her debut at both tracks.

“I’ve been learning a lot being on the road full time this year so I’m excited to go to two new tracks,” she said. “We are pushing ourselves and I think last weekend’s win shows it is helping.”
