Hunt The Front Super Dirt Series

Sam Seawright joins Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series for 2024

Coming off a season that produced four victories and 16 top-five finishes, Sam Seawright of Fort Payne, Ala., is ready to delve into a more rigorous campaign in 2024. With plans to follow the full Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series schedule, which features increased payouts this season, Seawright will have at least a dozen chances to top last season’s $10,000 Valvoline Iron-Man South triumph that he picked up at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, Ala.

Aiding Seawright’s touring effort will be longtime dirt Late Model supporter Troy Baird. Seawright joined forces with the Georgian in November with a goal of chasing the Hunt the Front Series championship. Seawright will now split seat time between his family-owned AGCOR Steel/Coltman Farms Racing/Grow Pediatric Therapy/J&R Excavating Rocket Chassis and Baird’s Cove 2 Coast Marine/Troy Baird Truck and Trailer Sales Longhorn Chassis. Both machines will utilize Durham Racing Engines. Seawright will also have Michael Page of Douglasville, Ga., on board as his crew chief for the third season.

The 20-year-old Seawright should enjoy the tour’s four visits to Talladega Short Track — where the series kicks off its sophomore season March 15-16 — as well as two stops at both Phenix City’s East Alabama Motor Speedway and Duck River Raceway Park in Wheel, Tenn., three tracks where he’s performed well throughout his career. Two of Seawright’s four victories last year came at TST.

Last July’s disappointing near miss at Duck River, where he led 24 of 40 laps until the front of his hood came undone and flew up, blocking his vision with only four laps remaining, is among the events Seawright would like to atone for. After notching two top-five finishes — TST on Sept. 29 and Duck River on Nov. 18 — in 10 Hunt the Front Series feature starts a year ago, Seawright will be eyeing his first career Hunt the Front win when the tour opens up at TST in March. Seawright has four career top-10s with the series.
