Freeman visits All-Tech Raceway for Sunshine State 50
Payton Freeman took the Team 22 Inc. No. 22 Late Model into battle with the XR Super Series on Friday night at All-Tech Raceway (Lake City, Fla.) for the two-day Sunshine State 50.
With 28 Late Models entered, Freeman laid down the fourth-fastest time in his group before placing first in his heat. Earning the pole for the $20,000-to-win preliminary feature, Payton tagged the wall after leading the opening four circuits that dropped him to 13th when the checkers flew.
On Saturday, Payton’s fifth-to-second run in his heat race placed him on the second row for the $40,000-to-win Sunshine State 50 finale. Coming one spot shy of a Top-10 finish, Freeman recorded an 11th-place finish in the 50-lapper.
