Logan Roberson sets sights on a full 2018

By Ben Shelton (Waynesboro, WV) -- After a rough-and-tumble start to the season, Logan Roberson now has his sights set on an ambitious 2018 campaign.

“It’s no secret that luck hasn’t been on our side to start the year, but we are now focused on turning 2018 into our best season ever,” Roberson commented. “While it’s been a pretty disheartening first few races, we see the big picture and know that the season hasn’t really even started yet.”

Roberson had a tumultuous start to the season during the annual Winternationals at East Bay Raceway Park. On the second night of the event, Logan endured a hard crash in his Wynbridge Inc. #17 BTS Towing Service/ XR1 Rocket Chassis. The 20-year-old racer was extricated from his car and transported to the hospital. Luckily, he was diagnosed with no serious injuries and released the next day.

With a banged-up driver and a torn-up racecar the team headed home.

After making repairs the team returned to action this past Saturday night at Screven Motor Speedway (Sylvania, Georgia) for the FASTRAK Racing Series-sanctioned Winter Freeze. In a field of 36 cars, Roberson logged a fifth-place finish in his heat race, which relegated him to the B-Main.

Sending the Top-4 finishers into the big show, Logan captured a consolation victory, locking him into the 17th-starting position for the feature. With $3,000 on the line, Roberson improved three spots to finish 14th.

While Roberson is currently gearing up for the upcoming weekend’s NeSmith Late Model Series events at Bubba Raceway Park (Ocala, Florida), he’s also focused on the post Speedweeks season.

“This year we are looking to win even more races than last year and lock down multiple championships,” Roberson commented. “We have our sights set on claiming the track titles at Winchester Speedway (Winchester, Virginia) and Potomac Speedway (Budd’s Creek, Maryland). Past that we want to repeat as the RUSH Weekly Series Champion and we want to win the RUSH Summer Chase Championship. I know it’s a tall order, but I know we can accomplish all of these goals if we set our minds to it.”
