Joshua Shipley Logs Second-Place Finish at Canyon Speedway Park

Inside Line Promotions – PEORIA, Ariz. (June 26, 2018) – Joshua Shipley recorded a second-place finish last Saturday at Canyon Speedway Park with the San Tan Ford Desert Sprint Car Series.
“It was nice to race so close to home and get back in the non-wing car,” he said. “The car was really fast. I had my engine builder do some work on it since the last time I raced it and I could tell a huge difference.”
Shipley started fifth in his heat race. A restart with one lap to go gave him the opportunity to pull a slide job for the lead. However, despite his best effort Shipley finished second.
“We started third in the feature,” he said. “The track conditions were a little rough so it was more about having patience throughout the race.”
Shipley started directly behind his younger brother and they quickly jumped to the front. They ran first and second for the first handful of laps before another driver passed Joshua Shipley for a position.
“I ran third for most of the race,” he said. “There were a lot of yellows because the track was so slick. My brother ended up wrecking, which moved me to second and that’s where we finished. Overall, I was happy with how it ended up. I always appreciate getting more seat time.”
Shipley is scheduled to return to ASCS Southwest Region competition this Saturday at Arizona Speedway in Queen Creek, Ariz.
