GRT Legends Late Models to join Sooner Series on opening weekend

by John Rittenoure - TULSA, Okla. (March 18, 2022) - The 2022 Complete Well Testing Sooner Late Model Series season is only days away with the first weekend of racing set for March 25-26.

The season will open Friday, March 25, at Thunderbird Speedway in Muskogee then travels to Crawford County Speedway in Van Buren, Arkansas on Saturday, March 26 for the Battle at the Border with the GRT Legends Late Model Series.

This is the first time we have raced the Legends series and they will join us again when we return to Crawford County on September 24.

New this season is a purse increase for the Sooner Series with the weekend paying $1,000 to win and $300 to start.

Our lineup up procedures have also changed. In the past we were lining up by inverted point average. We will now draw for heat race starting positions and use a heads up finish from the heats to determine the A feature lineup. The top 12 (number could change depending on number of cars signed in) will lock into the A feature with a redraw to be determined after sign-in. If no B feature cars from 13 on back will lineup heads up by their heat finish. If a B feature is run then those cars would run in the B with the top 8 advancing to the A feature. These numbers could change some as needed. Our new lineup procedure will be monitored and is subject to change if series officials feel it is needed.

About Complete Well Testing
Based in Oklahoma, Complete Well Testing is a family owned and operated company specializing in hydrostatic tubing testing and EMI tubing scanning.

Sooner Late Model Series
The Sooner Late Model Series was formed in 2016 by Enid Speedway co-promoter Mark Brill. Brill felt there was not many opportunities for late model competitors to race in Oklahoma and the Sooner Late Model Series was formed. Now the series has grown beyond the borders of Oklahoma with events held in the neighboring states of Kansas, Texas and Arkansas as well.
