THOMPSON CRUISES TO FIRST VICTORY SINCE 2019
Cautions came early and often in the IMCA Sport Compact feature. After six cautions, the drivers finally found a rhythm. Alex Thompson led the race early as his dad, Stan Thompson, tried to hold off Aiden Wagner for second. They raced bumper to bumper for much of the race as points leader, Ken Sandberg lurked in fourth. When the checkered flag waved, Stan Thompson held off Aiden Wagner for second. Ken Sandberg finished a distant fourth. Kayla Koth, who hadn’t raced since 2017, rounded out the top five as Alex Thompson cruised to victory.
