Pair of top-five finishes at Bulls Gap; Eldora next
Tuesday saw Mike Marlar back in action at Volunteer Speedway (Bulls Gap, Tenn.) as the XR Workin’ Man Series kicked off their 2023 campaign with the Spring Thaw Warmup.
After taking part in the Dirt Dominator preliminary events, Mike secured his spot into the feature with a heat race win. With $10,000 on the line, Marlar dropped one spot in the 40-lapper to register a fifth-place finish.
Back in action at Volunteer on Saturday after Mother Nature shortened the XR Super Series-sanctioned Spring Thaw 100 to a single day, Marlar followed up the ninth-fastest qualifying lap in his group with a third-to-first run in his heat. Starting the $100,000-to-win A-Main in sixth, Mike gained four spots in the 100-lap affair to place second. He chased race-long pacesetter Dale McDowell to the checkers with Hudson O’Neal, Kyle Bronson, and Tyler Erb rounding out the top-five
