Ross Robinson invades Land of Lincoln for Illinois Speedweek

Sneaking in a pair of events before the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series makes its debut at two Illinois bullrings, Ross Robinson visited Spoon River Speedway (Canton, Ill.) on Wednesday for the Castrol FloRacing Night in America event.

Drawing a stacked field of 48 cars for the Illinois Speedweek opener, Ross failed to qualify for the feature in his heat but raced his way into show via the third-and-final transfer spot in his consolation race. Advancing forward seven positions in the 50-lap affair, Robinson crossed the line in 14th.

For another $23,023 Castrol FloRacing Night in America event on Thursday at Lincoln Speedway (Lincoln, Ill.), Robinson missed a transfer spot in his heat and B-Main but was awarded a provisional into feature. Starting in 24th, Ross was an early retiree on the 15th circuit.

Joining the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) on Friday, Ross trekked to Farmer City Raceway (Farmer City, Ill.) as the series debuted at the quarter-mile oval for the Farmer City 74. Failing to transfer out of his heat race and B-Main, Robinson was granted a provisional into the A-Main that was postponed by Mother Nature to Monday, May 15th.

On Saturday evening at Fairbury Speedway (Fairbury, Ill.) for the FALS Spring Shootout, Robinson was scored 27th in the final rundown of the 60-lapper after retiring on the 13th circuit.

Locked into the 25th-starting position for Monday’s rain-delayed Farmer City 74, Ross headed pitside on lap 43.
