Back-to-Back Friday Night Wins for Ricketson and Hutchinson at Lancaster Motorplex WDRA Drags
Lancaster, NY – June 3, 2023. The 4th week of WDRA drag racing at Lancaster Motorplex included repeat and new winners for 2023.
Owen Burdick won Buffalo Chopper Bikes & Sleds for his first win since 2021. He faced Dick Nearhoof in the final and Nearhoof left the starting line too early, resulting in disqualification.
Peter Van Baalen won his first race at Lancaster, beating Justin Hardman who made his second final round appearance this season. Hardman’s runner-up finish contributed to the points lead in Mallare-Noltee Racing Top.
Clay Ricketson is the defending Champion in Gianni Mazia’s Mod. He has appeared in 3 finals in the first 4 weeks of racing. Ricketson had a near perfect run beating Roger Kieffer in the finals when Kieffer broke out, going faster than the predicted index.
JC Hutchinson started out with first round losses in Mod and Street, despite having stellar reaction times. Buying back in, he continued to the final round in Big Indian Street, beating Nolan Eckert in the final for back-to-back wins.
Tuesday night racing continues this week with the first night of Junior Dragster points, NE Open Comp, Test & Tune and Trophy class.
Wednesday will be the weekly Grudge Drags and Cruise Night. Friday June 9 will be the next WDRA points race for drags and Buffalo Street Outlaws 5.50 and 6.50 classes will join the program. See the Lancaster Motorplex and Lancaster Dragway Drag Racers Facebook pages for more information.
