McCowan Competes in Diamond Nationals
Dillon McCowan was back on the Lucas Oil Midwest Late Model Racing Association (MLRA) campaign on Saturday evening with a trip to Lucas Oil Speedway (Wheatland, Mo.) for the 17th annual CMH Diamond Nationals presented by Summit Racing Equipment.
Thirty-four Super Late Models entered the event, which was co-sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS).
A fifth-place finish in his heat race left McCowan one spot short of locking into the feature, and as a result he was relegated to a B-Main. With a third-place finish in the B-Main, he advanced to the $15,000-to-win finale in the 21st-starting spot.
Dillon went on to advance to a 17th-place finish at the checkered flag.
Sunday's scheduled Lucas Oil MLRA event at I-70 Speedway (Odessa, Mo.) fell victim to Mother Nature.
Dillon is up to fourth in the latest Lucas Oil MLRA standings and continues to lead the Rookie of the Year battle.
