Tom Berry Jr. marches to 12th in Mod Wars finale at Ogilvie
With his stint with the Dakota Classic Modified Tour behind him, Tom Berry Jr. returned with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) on Thursday afternoon at Ogilvie Raceway (Ogilvie, Minn.) as the series kicked off the third annual Mod Wars with a $3,000-to-win opener.
Forced to take a provisional into Thursday’s rescheduled feature on Friday afternoon after missing a transfer spot by one car in his B-Main, Tom was an early retiree on lap 21.
Later Friday night, Berry advanced from the 27th-starting position in the 40-lap feature to finish 19th.
Capping off the Mod Wars weekend with an impressive charge on Saturday evening, Berry took the green in 27th for the $11,000-to-win finale and went onto pass 15 cars to register a 12th-place finish.
Tom remains leading the Grant Junghans Rookie of the Year chase and sits eighth in the latest USMTS point standings.
