Action Sprint Tour East Series To Make Can-Am Speedway Debut Friday Night

In 2023 some great racing action has taken place at the Can Am Speedway in Lafargeville New York, with many first time winners getting into the winner’s circle and plenty of familiar faces getting wins again as well.

Last week in the Whitesboro Plow Shop DIRTCar 358 Modifieds Billy Dunn charged to win number two over Tim Fuller, who was inducted into the Dirt Modified Northeast Hall of Fame last week in Weedsport, he finished second for a third straight week with Jordan McCreadie third.

Defending track champion Tyler Corcoran said “it’s tough to win here this year” following his 1st Bob Johnson Auto Group DIRTCar Sportsman win, the 7th different driver in 7 races to get a win. Remington Hamm and Gavin Eisle round out the top 3

The Donath Motorworx Limited Sportsman saw Keegan Nier keep his hot streak going taking his 2nd win in a row and third of the season. Dylan Moore finished second for a third time this year, all to Nier, with two-time winner Brady Howard third.

Josh Verne Jr. has owned victory lane in the Panther Frameworx 602 Crate Sprints this year. The defending track champion started 4th, took the lead on lap 2 and checked out to score his 5th win in a row over Rookie Andrew Hennessy and Michael Cousins

Phil Desormeau III did what only one other driver has done this year in Sundance Leisure Thundercars, that’s win in your first start of the year. Desormeau took the checkered flag in the Bechler racing machine with teammate Damien Bechler 2nd and points leader Francis White coming home 3rd.

This week the Action Sprint Tour East Series out of Canada will highlight the night, with the first ever event on American soil for the series, which ran its first race in 2018. Drivers such as Lee Ladouceur, who’s family has a rich history at Can Am, leads the East Series points with Mathieu Bardier, Adam Turner, Can Am regular Andrew Hennessy and rookie Evan Reynolds 5th.

Ladouceur has won the last three in a row on the series and the last 5 in a row at Brockville, making him one of the odds-on favorites to challenge for the win.

Former DIRTCar Modified star Mike Bowman is expected to be in attendance. The points leader in the west series, has been equally as dominant, winning three of the 4 events held including the least two in a row at Ohsweken and Merrittville.

No matter who shows up they will have to contend with the undefeated Josh Verne Jr., who has won all five events in the Panther Frameworx 602 Crate Sprint division at Can Am in 2023. Verne said in victory lane a week ago, he will be on his game when the invaders come to town. The big field of drivers will all be looking to make history, as they look to win the first ever series race in the United States, which pays a cool $1,000 to the winner on Friday night.

Also part of the Summer Sizzler Card will be the Whitesboro Plow Shop DIRTCar 358 Modified, Bob Johnson Auto Group DIRTCar Sportsman, Donath Motorworx Limited Sportsman and Sundance Leisure Thundercars.

Spectator gates open at 5pm with the green flag dropping at 7pm. Opening ceremonies and National Anthems will take place featuring Miss Thousand Islands and Miss Adirondak.
