Sam Seawright scores career-high $10,000 victory in Governor's Cup at Talladega Short Track
Staying in his home state of Alabama over the weekend, Sam Seawright joined the Valvoline Iron-Man Southern Series at North Alabama Speedway (Tuscumbia, Ala.) on Friday afternoon for the Road to 'Dega 40.
Locking in the Top-10 in qualifying, Seawright laid down the seventh-fastest lap which placed him on the fourth-row for the 40-lap main event. With a $5,000 paycheck on the line, Sam pulled off while running inside the Top-10 and was scored 16th in the rundown.
With the field elevated to 36 Late Models on Saturday at Talladega Short Track (Eastaboga, Ala.), Sam topped the charts in his stacked qualifying group before cruising to a victory in his heat. Leading all 50-laps in the main event, Seawright dominated his competitors to bring home the $10,000 victory. The win marks his highest-career payday in a Super Late Model. He outran Joseph Joiner, Austin Horton, Trey Mills, and Dalton Cook who completed the Top-5.
