11th-place outing in Rumble by the River at Port Royal Speedway
Traveling North on Thursday afternoon, Earl Pearson Jr. and the Papich Racing team unloaded at Georgetown (Del.) Speedway for the first leg of a third-day weekend with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.
For the Melvin Joseph Memorial, EPJ missed the setup in his heat race and transferred to the A-Main through a B-Main. Completing all 49 laps, Earl recorded an 18th-place finish.
Trekking to Port Royal (Pa.) Speedway on Friday, Pearson Jr. was one of 52 Late Models checked in for the Rumble by the River weekend. Following a third-place finish in his heat, Earl landed inside the Top-10 in eighth for the $5,000-to-win preliminary feature.
For Saturday's $50,000-to-win finale, EPJ made up one spot in his heat race which earned him a starting spot on the fifth row. Slipping back to 16th at the halfway point, Earl rallied to finish just outside the Top-10 in 11th.
Earl currently sits ninth in the series points standings.
