Holcombe victorious in Dash for the Kids; Runner-up in Modified Mafia Tour season finale
With the Modified Mafia Tour wrapping up it's 2023 season, Austin Holcombe made the quick trip to his home track of County Line Raceway (Elm City, N.C.) for the Race for the Kids weekend.
With the $5,000 season finale pushed up to Friday night due to threatening weather, Holcombe qualified third-fastest out of 24 entries before climbing to second in the Climb to the Pole. In the tour's 50-lap season finale, Austin rolled off from the front-row and challenged for the race lead before an untimely caution caused him to fall back to third. With just a handful of laps left, Holcombe made his way back to the runner-up position but was unable to get by Chris Arnold for the victory. Holcombe wound up second in the series points standings.
With the special Dash for the Kids event now slated for Saturday, Austin topped the qualifying charts and led flag-to-flag in the 20-lap feature to collect the $1,000 payday. Holcombe outran Russell Erwin and Ryan Toole for the victory.
