Beard lands pair of runner-up finishes in Spooky 50 weekend; falls just short of CCSDS Championship
Needing a good performance to secure the 2023 season championship, Kyle Beard traveled to Super Bee Speedway (Chatham, La.) on Friday afternoon to chase down Billy Moyer Jr. in the Comp Cams Super Dirt Series standings.
Among 25 Late Models at the track, Beard earned fast time honors and dominated his heat race which put him on the pole of the $5,000-to-win opener. Running inside the Top-3 during the 40-lap feature, Kyle finished second behind Dillon McCowan and gained valuable points in the championship chase.
Now being only 23 points back heading into Saturday's finale, Beard earned a front row starting position after once again dominating his heat race. In the tour's final event of the 2023 season, Kyle led the first 21 circuits before giving up the lead to eventual race-winner Tyler Stevens.
Despite another strong runner-up outing, Beard fell just short of the Comp Cams Super Dirt Series Championship and finished only two points shy of Billy Moyer Jr.
