Cottage Grove, Oregon- It's almost that time of the year. Time for one of the biggest 360 Sprint races in the entire Pacific Northwest region. The Marvin Smith Memorial Grove Classic will once again be taking place at Cottage Grove Speedway on the final weekend of the month of May. The 2015 edition will feature two days of action beginning with Friday May 29th and concluding on Saturday the 30th.

Teams from Oregon, Washington, California, Idaho, as well as Canada are expected to make the trip. The expected car count is expected to be near forty 360 Sprint Cars so it should be a well attended event.

Last year did not disappoint as Kyle Hirst and Henry Van Dam put on one exciting show in front of the packed house. Van Dam would eventually pick up the victory and collect the $4,100.00 winner's check. Both drivers are planning to make it back for this year's race.

Not only will their be racing but also several fun activities including a Kick-It game on Saturday morning in the parking lot as well as a charity auction. Details for these events will be released in the week leading up to the race.

For drivers that are curious about the weekend's payout it will remain the same as last year. A full breakdown of the payout both days can be found at the bottom of this release.

Lap sponsors are still available and are $100.00 per lap. If you are interested in purchasing some feel free to contact CGS General Manager Heather Boyce at (541)-729-8666. But hurry they are going fast.

Like last year there will also be commemorative Marvin Smith Memorial Grove Classic t-shirts and hoodies. They will be on sale during both days of the race as well as this week's races on Saturday May 23rd and Sunday the 24th.

Of all the drivers to grace the Cottage Grove Speedway one of the most popular pilots was Marvin Smith. Marvin not only was well liked but he was also a very skilled driver. In his career he would achieve four championships at the Cottage Grove Speedway including the 1990, 1992, and 2005 seasons in the 360 Sprint division and the 2006 Limited Sprint title. He was also the 1990 Coors Silver Bullet Series champion which was a series that toured exclusively in just the state of Oregon.
