FVP National Sprint League/IRA Showdown Sunday in Sun Prairie!

Windom, MN (May 27, 2015) – One of the most anticipated racing events of the year is almost upon us! Sunday night, August 30, the FVP National Sprint League takes on the Bumper to Bumper IRA sprints at the beautiful Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin! A large field of sprint cars is anticipated to clash at the 1/3-mile oval, and the all open wheel event will also feature the Badger Midgets!

The NSL

Four-time Knoxville Nationals champion and current point leader, “The Dude” Danny Lasoski leads the NSL into Sun Prairie. He will be joined by defending Knoxville Raceway champion, Ian Madsen, two-time “King of California”, Tim Kaeding, seven-time IRA champion, Bill Balog, seven-time Knoxville Raceway track champion, Terry McCarl, two-time USAC sprint and midget champion, Bryan Clauson, Charlotte WoO World Finals winner, Brian Brown, Knoxville Nationals World Challenge winner, Lynton Jeffrey, Eagle Raceway NSL winner, Brad Loyet, Matt Juhl, Austin McCarl, Tasker Phillips, Dakota Hendrickson and more!

The IRA

Young Ben Schmidt of Howards Grove, Wisconsin leads the IRA point standings heading into this weekend’s action. Veterans Bill Rose and Scotty Neitzel are second and third. Jeremy Schultz, Scott Thiel, Blake Nimee, Phillip Mock, Scott Uttech, Kyle Marten and former Knoxville one-lap track record holder, Mike Reinke, will also be just a part of the IRA contingent ready to do battle on Sunday!

Other invaders are expected, including young Parker Price-Miller, who won an IRA event from row four in Sun Prairie on July 19! The IRA has held four events at Angell Park Speedway thus far in 2015. Other winners include Balog, who won both the sprint and midget features on May 31, Neitzel on June 21, and Schultz who was victorious last Sunday night, August 23.

The event is the third of three shows for the FVP National Sprint League this weekend. The series begins Friday at the Randolph County Raceway near Moberly, Missouri, before moving on to Knoxville Raceway in Iowa Saturday.

Tickets and Times

Adult tickets are just $25, youth 12-18 are $20 and 11 and under are admitted FREE! Badger Midgets are also on the card.

National Sprint Car Museum Madness!

The Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, will host the “National Sprint Car Museum Madness” program on Sunday, August 30, in conjunction with that night’s co-sanctioned National Sprint League (NSL) and Interstate Racing Association (IRA) sprint car race. The museum will be giving away sprint car-related prizes from its museum store to many lucky fans in attendance.

Said museum curator Tom Schmeh, “For me personally, it is going to be fun to go back to Wisconsin for this IRA/NSL shootout. I went to a lot of Sunday night Badger midget car races at Sun Prairie in the late 1980’s, prior to joining the non-profit museum foundation. Grant Rankin and I will bring our brand-new GF1-Ti22/Shaver ‘410’ sprint raffle car and we will be joined by long-time museum volunteer Larry Janicsek at this event. We will be giving away a lot of neat prizes to many of those on-hand for this special event. If you are a sprint car fan in Wisconsin, you will want to be at Sun Prairie next Sunday night, August 30, for the IRA/NSL-sanctioned winged 410-cubic-inch sprint car races and Museum Madness.”

The museum booth at Angell Park Speedway will feature the 2015-16 raffle car and a table with the following informational brochures: museum membership program, Racers at Rest program, Stay in School program, Expand the Dream program, A Brick at a Time program, and museum store catalog. In addition, over thirty museum-related special prizes will be given away to lucky fans that night.
