Brian Brown-Cocopah Kicks Off 2016!

(Bill W) December 29, 2015 – Brian Brown and the Casey’s General Stores/FVP #21 team eagerly await their 2016 season this Friday night, January 1 at Cocopah Speedway near Yuma, Arizona. This year’s Winter Heat Showdown will again feature five events in nine nights.

You have to be excited about starting a new season.

-We really are. You never want to see a season end. We had seven wins in 2015, won an Outlaw show (in Tucson, Arizona) and had a decent run at the (Knoxville) Nationals. Other than that, it was a pretty tough year in general based on our previous seasons.

What has the off season looked like for the team?

-The guys have been working really hard in the shop on some things we had issues with. We really want to get back to where we were in 2014.

Starting on January 1 didn’t give you much of an off season.

-We’re looking forward to Cocopah. We kind of took a leap of faith going there last year and made some pretty good money. We’re hoping for good crowds and some good results again there.

You’ve had some good runs at Cocopah, including a charge from 12th to third at this event last year.

-We’ve run pretty well there. We had some top fives and podiums there in the 360 too. We were able to run third there last year. We’ve definitely had some success there, and it’s good going in having a notebook and knowing what to expect.

The competition is going to be just as tough if not tougher than last year.

-We’re looking somewhere in the 45-55 car range. These are drivers that can win anywhere in the country. It’s not going to be easy, but everyone on the team is hoping for the best.
