MUENSTER CELEBRATES ANNIVERSARY WITH A VICTORY, BOULANGER SCORES INAUGURAL COW BELL VICTORY

By Scott Owen
Luxemburg,WI,5/5/17—After two cancellations due to weather, the 2017 racing season finally kicked off at the Luxemburg Speedway. The pit area was full, as 145 cars signed in to do battle. Among that number were 54 street stocks, on hand to compete in the first ever Cow Bell Street Stock Tour event. Drivers making their way to victory lane included Eddie Muenster (IMCA Modified), who made the night more memorable by celebrating his wedding anniversary with his wife Lynn, Rod Snellenberger (IMCA Stock Car), Randy LeMieux Jr. (Sport Mod), Scott Boulanger (Street Stock), and Shaun Bangart (Sport Compact).
RM VanPay snared the lead on the opening lap of the IMCA Modified feature, but his time in the lead would be short lived as Eddie Muenster made his move for the lead. Russ Reinwald followed Muenster into second on track. JJ Anderson quickly raced his way to third and the three drivers began to separate themselves from the rest of the pack. Muenster had his hands full as Reinwald was able to pull even more than once throughout the race. Muenster was up on the wheel and would not be denied victory. Reinwald finished second as Anderson crossed the line right behind Reinwald for third. Jeremy Jacobs and 14th place starting Luke Lemmens finished fourth and fifth.
In IMCA Stock Car action, it was Billy LeMieux grabbing the lead on lap one. Shawn Havel applied the pressure early on. Seventh place starter, Hot Rod Snellenberger methodically began to work through the field and joined LeMieux and Havel in a battle for the lead. Snellenberger got underneath LeMieux entering turn one on the final lap to take the lead. He would hold it the rest of the way for the win. Havel came home second followed by Devin Snellenberger, LeMieux, and John Anschutz.
Challenged early by Jacob Zellner and late by Todd Wiese, defending track champion Randy LeMieux Jr. led every lap of the IMCA Sport Mod feature en route to victory lane. Wiese, Zellner, Wyatt Block, and Kyle Raddant completed the top five.
The first ever Cow Bell Street Stock feature was highlighted by a three car battle for the win. Scott Boulanger led the first few laps before Paul Ambrosius took over. Boulanger and Ambrosius swapped the lead a few times as Jeff Richards followed closely behind looking for an opening. As Ambrosius looked to be pulling away just a bit, a caution flag flew which bunched up the field late in the race. Boulanger was able to take the lead back on the restart. Richards then passed Boulanger to take a turn at the front of the field. Boulanger battled right back and got outside of Richards on the final lap and made the pass stick as the checkered flag waived. Richards, Ambrosius, Dave DeGrave, and Jesse Krahn rounded out the top five.
Shaun Bangart and Mike Meier battled for the lead throughout the Sport Compact feature with Bangart eventually coming out on top. Meier, Nick Everard, Mitch Meier, and Kasey Gross finished second through fifth.
Racing will continue next Friday night with fan appreciation night. Adult admission is only $5. More information can be found online at www.luxemburgspeedway.com
