Inside Line Promotions – THE WOODLANDS, Texas (Sept. 27, 2017) – Mother Nature prevented Tommy Bryant and the SawBlade.com backed Cooper Motorsports team from the season they envisioned in 2017.

While the team competed in only 14 events, they were able to notch a pair of wins.

“We struggled at the first part of the year with consistency,” Bryant said. “It took us awhile to get the new car dialed in, but once Brad (Benic) got it figured out we were a threat to win every time we hit the track. We had some motor issues midway through the season and that hurt us, too. It’s a shame we didn’t get to race more toward the end of the year because I think we could have gotten a few more wins.

“The Coopers put such good equipment under me and give me the opportunity to succeed. At the end of the year we finally pulled it all together. I just wish I could win more for them.”

Bryant’s victories came in March at Battleground Speedway in Highlands, Texas, and in August at Heart O’ Texas Speedway in Waco, Texas, during ASCS Gulf South Region action. He was one of only three drivers to win multiple races with the region this season.

“I got my first ‘big track’ win this year at Battleground,” he said. “All my wins before came on quarter-mile tracks. I passed Travis Rilat, who is one of the best out there, and he passed me and I fought back on a rough fast track. The funny part was Brad wasn’t even there, but it was his setup and notes from the previous race at Devil’s Bowl where we had struggled real bad and found something on the last night.”

Bryant said the Cooper Motorsports team, which finished fifth in the ASCS Gulf South Region championship standings despite skipping several races, has started the process of tearing cars down and getting ready for 2018.

“We came into this season with only one motor,” he said. “We have sent it back to be freshened so our engine program will be a lot better next year. We will go through all the equipment and freshen everything up and get organized for next year.”

SEASON STATS –

We have put together a show car for them and will be taking it to the SEMA (Speed Equipment Manufacturing Association) show in Las Vegas next month. I hope to be able to work with them for many more years.”
