Kaley Gharst Takes Round 2 At Jackson JSTS vs. UMSS Event

JACKSON, MN – The second night of the Jackson Speedway Touring Series vs Upper Midwest Sprint Series sprint car challenge arrived at the historic Jackson Speedway on Saturday night, June 28, with a total of 25 winged 360 sprint cars turning out to do battle on the historic half-mile. A total of 83 racers filled the pits for racing in the various classes for the night’s racing, sponsored by Hitch Doc – GCC Ready Mix Night as part of Jackson’s Town and Country Days celebration. To cap off the celebration, fireworks, sponsored by the Jackson Chamber of Commerce, Jackson Lodging Association and Jackson Speedway, filled the skies over the speedway at the conclusion of the night’s racing action.

Touring Series-Last Deck 360 Winged Sprint heats, wins were earned by Matt Wasmund of Jackson, MN, Dusty Ballenger of Harrisburg, SD and Isaac Schreurs of Sioux Falls, SD. The 20 lap feature saw Wasmund lead the opening lap before Dusty Ballenger grabbed the top spot. Ballenger led laps 2-6. Gharst got the lead on lap 7, held off Ballenger on several restarts, and went on to record the victory. Ballenger, Wasmund, Skylar Prochaska (the winner at Redwood), and Chris Graf (2013 UMSS Champion) rounded out the top five.
