UMSS Season Approaches

UMSS Drivers and Teams,

The 2016 race season is fast approaching.......less than two weeks away for the Traditional sprints and a little over a month away for the winged division and micro sprints! The below will help everyone prepare.

SCHEDULE

The schedules for the wing and traditional series will have significant changes for 2016. It was time to showcase the traditional series at a new home track in Cedar Lake Speedway, move the micro series to Princeton Speedway and to schedule fewer events and closer venues while we rebuild the wing series. New tracks and date changes are included in all schedules. Please check the respective websites or Facebook for the schedules. The Traditional and Wing Sprint Cars will once again be included with the World Of Outlaws at Cedar Lake Speedway! Do not be surprised if a few more shows are added for both the traditional and wing series. Stay tuned for more announcements on the UMSS loyalty program where one team could win $25,000 and on the $100,000 loyalty program for the wing Midwest Power Series.

LICENSE FEES

License fees will stay the same in 2016. With $100,000 of excess participant accident coverage, the license fee will remain $130. Without the insurance it will be $50. These fees cover the whole year and all three divisions. No one will be allowed to participate without paying this fee and filling out all paperwork. You can download the paper work from the UMSS website at www.umsprints.com and click on Rules/Forms. Please complete this BEFORE the season and send to P.O. Box 66, Harris, Minnesota 55032

ELECTRONIC SCORING

In 2016, the UMSS will be using electronic scoring for the wing and traditional series at all tracks that have it. If you do not have a transponder, you will be required to rent one from the track. Buying one will save a lot of money in the long run.

RULES

All participants in the wing and traditional sprint car series are encouraged to go through their respective rules as there have been some changes. Remember, YOU are responsible for knowing and following all UMSS rules.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION

The UMSS™ technical inspection has already taken a big step forward for 2016. David Anderson has been hired as the new technical inspector. David brings many years of experience and all the right tools to the UMSS. Welcome to the UMSS David! Besides the dynoing that is currently being completed, ALL traditional teams WILL have the inside of their engines inspected on a random basis. Wing and micro teams should also expect more teching in 2016. We have purchased additional tools/equipment for our inspections. Please check the rule book under Penalties and Sanctions for what will happen if you are caught cheating or with illegal parts.

BEHAVIOR

Disrespectful behavior will not be tolerated. Again, go through the rules as there are new rules pertaining to behavior. If you abuse a UMSS official in any way, you will be penalized! Behavior rules will be enforced more strictly in 2016!

COPYRIGHT AND TRADEMARK

The UMSS has been granted copyright protection for the Traditional Sprint Car engine rules and we are in the process of receiving copyright protection for the wing procedures. In addition, we have received Trademark protection for our name and logo. This will legally protect the UMSS from anyone who attempts to put on a Traditional Sprint Car show, with our rules, and a wing show with our procedures from doing so without UMSS sanction.

CT 525 CHEVROLET SEALED SPEC ENGINE

2016 will be the initial year the UMSS will allow the CT 525 sealed spec engine in the Wing Sprint Car Series. Chris Graf and Jerry Richert Jr. will both have this engine in their cars this year. Look for additional announcements this Summer to further solidify sustainable rules for the wing series starting in 2017.

Please share this information with any teams/drivers that are new or may not get this. This will also be posted on the UMSS website and Facebook page.

All of us with the UMSS are looking forward to the 2016 season. We will see all of you soon.
