King of the Wing National Sprintcar Series

Three Events for King of the Wing Schedule Central Tour, No Southeast Dates

December 31, 2019 – Mountain Home, ID, The King of the Wing owners are pleased to announce that the King of the Wing National Sprintcar Series, Central tour is set to take place Jul 3-5, 2020. In addition to Colorado National Speedway’s (CNS) 2-day show, the series will travel 76 miles North to Intermountain Speedway (former Big Country Speedway) in Cheyenne,
WY.

The Series will be returning to the fast 3/8th mile oval in Dacono, CO. Shortly after completing the 2019 races, Colorado National Speedway, promotor Jim Nordhougen, was inviting us back for the 2020 July 4th weekend. Friday, July 3rd will kick off with a 30-lap feature event. Saturday, July 4th the feature will be 40-laps. Jason Conn set the initial track record for the series on our first trip there in 2016, with a 14.013. Current series Champion Eric Humphries bettered that time by almost a half second in 2019 with a 13.542 at the Saturday night event and Bobby Santos won both races in 2019

The 3-day race weekend will conclude Sunday, July 5th at Intermountain Speedway in Cheyenne, WY. This is the first ever trip by the Winged Sprint Car Series to this ¼ mile oval. “This will be the biggest show ever to come to Intermountain Speedway,” stated promoter Perry Kinard. He went on to say, “Fans are in for a thrill, these are the fastest asphalt short track cars in the country.”

On another note the King of the Wing will not tour in the Southeast in 2020. “We worked hard over the last month with the Southern Sprintcar Shootout Series and several tracks in South Central Florida. Unfortunately, the clock ran out on trying to secure dates,” said Series Director, Tom Hartsell. Series Founder Davey Hamilton added, “We were up against the clock, it would be unfair to our teams to announce a date with little time to prepare. We are now working with the SSS and the South-Central tracks to get on the schedule in 2021.”

KotW Administration Director, Bill Adams stated, “The rest of our 2020 schedule is coming together, we are close to finalizing tracks in the Mid and North West Regions. As soon as we confirm the tracks announcements will be made.”
